A Rare Gathering
The Summit is one of the few opportunities that civic leaders from inside government and out can come together and discuss their vision, opportunities, and challenges.
The Summit is one of the few opportunities that civic leaders from inside government and out can come together and discuss their vision, opportunities, and challenges.
The agenda is structured around distilling learnings from the year, which can translate into reusable solutions and lessons learned — turning talk into action and impact.
While the format and speakers change each year, common themes have emerged that remain consistent: citizen experience & engagement, data-driven decision making, and doing more with less.
The Code for America Summit is a rare opportunity for more than 300 leaders and innovators in civic technology to come together in one room for a face-to-face conversation. In addition to showcasing critical achievements from the year, the Summit hosts the conversations that determine the collective vision for this movement going forward.
The CfA Summit is an annual invitation-only gathering of civic technology leaders, ranging from Mayors to entreprenuers, from community organizers to CTOs; the common thread for the 300+ mix of attendees is a shared belief that a government of the people, by the people can work for the 21st century.
Over 35 cities were represented at last year’s event, and we expect more this year. Attendees for 2013 will include city government staff and officials who are working towards a new vision of local government; civic-focused foundations, investors, and businesses; and thought leaders in government as a platform and innovation.
While speakers and formats vary each year, the Summit focuses on four key themes that have emerged in our movement over the past few years: citizen experience; community as capacity; data-driven decision making & lean startup methodologies; transparency & networked localism.
This conference is by invitation only, but if you would like to be invited or know someone who should be, please email Jack Madans at jack@codeforamerica.org.
We hope to expand our circle significantly this year.
